Recently I wrote a blog post on where my life is headed and trying to stay balanced through it all. I have been trying to maintain an attitude of positivity, but it has been a little hard and often I've been feeling trapped.

1. Take care of your body.

Recently, I’ve been eating healthier, drinking smoothies and working out more. It shows! I can only describe it as bliss and I feel good after.

2. Surround yourself with positive influences. 

"I surround myself with good energy, good energy is transferrable." When I'm feeling most vulnerable I have to have love and light around me at all times. Whether it be a good book, family or friends I just need to have a moment of positivity.

3. Set goals. 

"Having goals to work towards can make us more positive." I don't remember where I read this, but whenever I'm feeling stagnant its easier for me to bounce back when I have things written out and set. I usually start small and work my way to the final destination.

4. Smile.

According to this post, smiling increases your overall happiness. It makes you more creative, passionate and ready to start your day. I remember reading somewhere that its been scientifically proven that smiling more makes you feel better.

5. Let it out.

I used to bottle up all my emotions and try to handle certain issues on my own which ultimately led to a huge blow out when I couldn't handle it anymore. Now I'll either write down my thoughts or talk to someone close to me about how I'm feeling.

6. Do what makes you happy.

This is self explanatory, but when you do what you love you feel good. For me its tea, a good book or my journal and I'm set. For others, it could be art or something as simple as taking a walk.

7. Accept what is and develop a solution.

In order to be truly positive, we need to accept things instead of suppressing them. Sometimes, it’s best to recognize the negativity in our life, accept it, and then decide that it has to change. Recognizing the problem is a vital part of the solution.

8. Meditate.  

I believe in God and will often read scriptures, pray or meditate on how I'm feeling. This gives me an opportunity to think about where I am and where I want to be.

9. Do something good.

Studies have proven that most of our happiness comes from making other people happy. If we build relationships and motivate other people, we feel good about ourselves, which leads to a positive perspective. Think of all those times you've volunteered or even did something small for someone else.

10. Read positive stories, quotes or mantras.

Often times I'll read from one of my favorite authors who just radiates light , Alex Elle. I'll even write daily positive messages to myself to remind myself of my worth and what I can achieve. This show demonstrates this method as well. Ultimately it's up to you to decide your self worth and what you want out of your life. No one can make you happy but you.
