African Black soap has been used for centuries by West Africans and has been known for a multitude of uses. In most cases it’s used to help relieve acne, oily skin, clear blemishes, and even soothe skin irritations.
I used to use an African Black soap body wash and became obsessed because it really healed my skin from the damage I did to it. But then I ran out and found something I thought was better (Confessions of a former product junkie). Now here I am again using Shea Moisture’s bar because the product didn’t last and the older I get I’m realizing my body needs more natural products to maintain. When it comes to my skin, it’s extremely sensitive, scars easily and it’s hard to find the right products.
My skincare routine is forever changing as I age, but African black soap has been one of the few things to actually help with healing. So of course I’m going to be consistent with using it again. It’s been trending again and companies are buying into, but in case you didn’t know here are some benefits of African Black Soap:
- Its an all natural product
- Tones your skin and those problematic dark spots
- It cleanses deep and helps with acne
- Its used as a strong cleanser yet gentle enough for daily use
- Can be used as shampoo and body wash (save those coins!)
- Ideal for people with rashes, dryness and other skin conditions
Besides the occasional drying on my combination skin, I love using this product. To combat this, I always follow up with a dab of essential oil at night to rejuvenate my skin. I’ve started using the product seriously again and will keep you updated on my progress. Here’s to better skin and overall wellness!
